About

Bring your laptops and switch on your viewfinders! You too can fight disinformation online. The day after her lecture performance Cyber Elf opens the 10th Bazaar Festival in Prague, Magda Szpecht offers a practical afternoon workshop on how to seek out and neutralize disinformation online – and even verify what may actually be true. In Magda’s practice sharing, you’ll discover OSINT (open source intelligence) tools and learn how to use them in cyber-activist and/or artistic contexts. You’ve felt their benevolent presence, now learn in person from a real-life cyber elf on your own laptop.

Duration of the workshop: 3 hours

Capacity: 20

The workshop will take place in English.

Magda Szpecht was born in 1990 in Jelenia Góra, Poland, and is an award-winning theatre and opera director and the author of many installations and performances in Poland and Japan (in collaboration with Festival/Tokyo). She studied theatre directing at the Ludwik Solski State Theatre School in Kraków. Previously, she graduated with a degree in journalism and social communication with a specialisation in creative writing from the University of Wrocław. She is interested in creating post-post-post-postdramatic theatre that is political, but intense and intimate, and balancing dark humour with sincere emotional experience and a surrealist, abstract world. Szpecht often explores non-human perspectives and unobvious ways of describing reality. She often combines elements of movement practice, film work, documentary archives, visual arts and contemporary music. Since the war started, Magda became a full-time cyberactivist, fighting Russian propaganda and disinformation as a Cyber Elf.
